Fellows conduct tabletop drill for over 100 Massachusetts state responders

The BIDMC Fellowship in Disaster Medicine is proud to provide a platform for Massachusetts response agencies to exercise their coordinated skills responding to active attack mass casualty events. The fellows as a class design and implement this complicated drill every year, serving as a resource for state responders. They did a terrific job!!

Here is a compliment from the Massachusetts State Police:

“Last week, members of the Command Staff, the Division of Field Services, and the Division of Homeland Security and Preparedness participated in a tabletop exercise at Worcester’s Polar Park organized by the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Division (BIDMC) of Disaster Medicine. The tabletop included a facilitated scenario depicting a complex coordinated attack within Polar Park and included participation by local leaders from the Worcester Police, Fire, EMS, Communications, and Emergency Management Departments.

As the scenario progressed, participants engaged in structured group discussions as well as an immediate, informal debrief to capture key observations, decisions, and improvement opportunities.

We deeply appreciate the leadership of the BIDMC Fellowship in Disaster Medicine Program and the Exercise Design Team for convening the group.”

Now we move to the full-scale exercise at Polar Park in June.
